Heart Beat Page 11

Wyatt’s hips began bucking, pounding my sex rapidly. The sounds that left him were so erotic, I didn’t stand a chance. I came undone, calling his name as I climaxed a second time. Wyatt abandoned finesse completely as he chased his own release.

Gripping his neck, I held him tightly, letting his words fall in my ear as he groaned my name before stilling. His arms wrapped around me, holding me so close I could barely breathe. I could feel his thick length shooting his satisfaction. A wave of pride poured over me knowing I could drive him to such heights.

His hips slowly thrust forward three times. “Milk me.” His request was almost a whisper, a strong contrast from the aggression he’d displayed only seconds earlier.

I did as he asked, taking every drop of him as I tightened myself around his massive cock. Finally finished, Wyatt slowly slid out of my pulsating slit, sliding down my body until his head rested on my bare breasts.

We stayed like that, panting, as I tried to make sense of the best sex of my life. My mind was racing, but my body was exhausted. Listening to Wyatt’s heavy breaths, feeling his heavy body rise and fall atop me, I drifted to sleep without a care in the world.

  Chapter 22

  WYATT

I’D BEEN UP for hours when Sadie found me on the back porch. Unable to sleep, I’d taken to the only thing I could do – music. Something about Sadie had brought me intense inspiration after I’d found myself in a bit of a slump.

If having her at my sessions was exciting, feeling her soft body beneath me was a shot of adrenaline to the heart. I’d written two drafts already, eager to see her reaction.

Wearing the white T-shirt I’d discarded in the living room, she stood in the doorway. Her legs crossed, and I felt myself harden. How she could still look so innocent and pure after the night we’d had was beyond me.

“This is pretty cliché, don’t you think?” she asked.

“What?” I glanced up at her, still playing the simple chord on the guitar.

“Shirtless in a pair of jeans, with a guitar? Is this a rom-com?” She pressed her lips to hide the smile I loved so much.

“Wait until you hear this, then,” I bit my lip, a little nervous.

I’d never had a difficult time sharing my work. I looked forward to letting others hear my lyrics, and loved reading the genuine feedback written on people’s faces. But this was different. I’d never been so attached to the words in my songs.

Unlike everything I typically did. This was my story, the completion of the song I’d been playing around with in my mind. I’d struggled to find the words without the feeling. Now that I had them with Sadie, the words came freely.

I sang the words proudly, watching her eyes narrow when she realized she was the forbidden fruit mentioned in the song. She was the sweet joy I’d risk everything for. When she smiled as I finished, I knew she understood and approved.

“You know we can’t tell anyone what happened, right?” Sadie said, walking toward me. I took the guitar off my lap and placed it carefully on the ground. She stood with one leg on either side of mine. Her hips leaned slightly towards me, and I realized her body was speaking for her.

Slowly, my hand drifted up the back of her leg until I felt her soft ass in my hand. She wasn’t wearing panties, just my T-shirt. I stood, taking her in my arms before taking her mouth.

“I’m serious, Wyatt,” she pleaded, pulling away from our embrace. “No one can know. Not Billie. Not Mitchell. No one.”

“Fine,” I answered quickly, willing to do and say anything to have her.

If Sadie wanted to keep what burned like fire between us a secret, I was okay with it. I didn’t care. I just wanted her, and her comfort was of the highest priority. Sadie’s body melted into my hands. She was mine; I could feel it in my soul.

She might want to hide it for now, but I was certain this was more than just sex. I felt it too deeply for it to be a shallow connection.

“This could mess up everything.” I could hear the concern in her tone. She was truly worried, but that didn’t stop her from easing closer and closer until she was sitting on my lap.

“I won’t let it mess up anything,” I assured her before kissing her passionately. Tilting her head, she gave me free rein, and I indulged.

We were working up to what I knew would be a perfect start to the morning. I’d been waiting for Sadie to wake up, already hungry for more of her. After our frantic lovemaking last night, I’d carried her into the bedroom after she’d fallen asleep and lay beside her, studying her face before I fell asleep myself into the deepest slumber I had known in years.

When her hands reached for the waistband of my jeans, my cock pressed against the rough fabric, painfully begging for her.

A loud rattling from the table beside us jolted both of us. We looked over to see my phone illuminated with Mitchell’s face and name. I could feel Sadie stiffen as I answered the phone.

“Sorry, I should get this. Hey,” I answered with my arm draped around Sadie, wanting her close.

“Hey, it’s Mitchell!” He announced himself like I didn’t have caller ID.

“I know. What’s up?” I tried to push him along.

“We’ve got an urgent meeting with the label,” he said loudly. I knew Sadie could hear him, but I didn’t turn away. Hopefully, she could see I didn’t have anything to hide from her.

“When?” I asked, annoyed that he had interrupted us and was now taking longer than necessary to let me get back to it.

“In an hour. It’s about the videos for the project. They’ve released this quarter’s budgets, and it looks like they’re going to give you and Billie the amount we requested.”

He was excited, because we’d been told before that music video budgets were getting slashed across the board. We’d been told to expect the minimum, or slightly above it. So, to hear we might receive all we needed was a huge win.

Only, I didn’t care. All I wanted was wrapped in my arms, wearing nothing but my T-shirt. Sadie had been purring for me, ready and willing. I was seconds from feeling her warmth, but with every word out of Mitchell’s mouth I felt that pleasure slipping away from me.

“All right, I’ll get to the office in an hour,” I said.

“I knew you’d say that,” Mitchell slightly chuckled, amused with himself. “So, I’m picking you up. This is important: you need to be there. I’ll be outside in half an hour.”

Before I could end the call, Sadie was on her feet, rushing to the living room. I followed close behind, searching for the words to help her calm down. She was frantic, reaching for her clothes, stuffing her panties into her purse.

“This is why this is a bad idea!” She mumbled as she gathered her things quickly.

“He’s honestly never done this,” I said, knowing it wasn’t the relief she needed.

“Of all days, he picks today to pop up at your house?” She looked at me with her hands full. “Don’t you think that’s a sign?”

“Maybe it’s a sign that I need to move,” I answered honestly.

The way I saw it, Mitchell popping up was an obstacle, but not one we couldn’t work around. I wouldn’t let anything so trivial prevent me from experiencing her as I had last night.

“This shouldn’t have happened,” Sadie said, unimpressed by my solution, rolling her eyes before rushing towards the door.

“Sadie, I’ll call you after the meeting,” I whispered, planting a kiss on her cheek as she brushed past me. Looking left and then right, she tiptoed across the lawn to her car. Wasting no time, she hadn’t laced up her Chucks, choosing to leave barefoot and unsighted instead. Quickly, she threw everything into the backseat before climbing into the front and racing down the street. I hated to think that she might regret what felt so natural, but it wasn’t something I could dwell on at the moment.

With Mitchell waiting half an hour later, I threw on a shirt and shoes before meeting him in the car. On the drive to the offices, he repeated what the projections had been for our album and a
nticipated good news for the video budget.

I tried to focus, but my mind kept circling back to Sadie. Memories from the night were vivid. I could still see her sexy body when I closed my eyes, and taste her sweetness on my tongue. Never had a woman captured me so fully.

I hated the way we had to leave each other, but understood her decision. Mitchell knew what kind of car she drove. Seeing it outside my place would have raised suspicions, at the very least.

She was serious about this job, and I didn’t want to mess that up for her. But I felt serious about her. I wasn’t going to let what we had slip away over a technicality at work. Sure, it wasn’t the best scenario, but the way I saw it, me sleeping with Sadie was far from the worst thing that could happen.

Besides, she was my muse. I’d already created two songs from the high she gave me. It didn’t matter if no one else understood that; I knew the truth. And I needed Sadie to know the same.

“Are you listening to me?” Mitchell asked as we pulled into the parking lot.

It was just after ten, and there was barely a space for us to park. The music industry started early and stayed up late. Everyone dreamed of being a music star, but no one thought of being dragged into meetings or caring about projections.

“Not really. My mind’s on something more important.”

My answer was so blunt, Mitchell took it as a joke, chuckling loudly as we walked towards the entrance. I laughed along, knowing I was dead serious. Sadie was more important than all of this.

  Chapter 23

  SADIE

IT HAD BEEN two days since I saw Wyatt after our night together. In the moment, it felt like nothing about us could ever be wrong. Everything felt so right with him, like our bodies were meant for one another. He moved like he knew me, and controlled my body and pleasure with an ease that left me speechless.

But all the romantic notions went out the window when Mitchell called, alerting Wyatt of an unexpected meeting. I’ve never felt so embarrassed, rushing from his house scantily clad, with my belongings sloppily tucked in my hands. I guess it was my first walk of shame. Funny though, I felt no shame from being with Wyatt, just the possibility of getting caught by Mitchell.

Driving away from Wyatt’s I was so anxious that Mitchell would see me, scowling through his windshield as he connected the dots. The way I saw it, he’d fire me on the spot. In the meetings leading up to me landing the gig, Mitchell had made it very clear that I was to be completely professional. I’d blown that one.

If it ever got out, I feared no one in the business would take me seriously. I didn’t want to be one of those girls known for sleeping with artists. And there were plenty of them. Whispers would fill their audiences with tales of how they’d landed their record deal or guest features.

Wyatt’s fame and success had nothing to do with how I felt about him, though I knew no one would believe that. Honestly, I couldn’t care less about his career. It was the way he made me feel, like I was the one with platinum records beneath my belt.

Wyatt spoke about my talent like I was a prodigy or world-renowned pianist. Of course, I wasn’t, but that didn’t stop me from feeling like the luckiest girl in the world when I was with him. Together, we had created the best music I’d ever been a part of. I wanted that experience, to learn from him and find my own sound.

That would all be ruined if anyone found out the truth of what had happened between us. So, I stopped taking his calls. Mitchell was always the one who called me about studio sessions, so I didn’t need to talk to Wyatt for work. After the third call and second message, Wyatt said he got the point and would give me some space.

I didn’t know what would happen the next time I saw him. I hated the way things were, but couldn’t see any alternative. Wyatt was my boss! No matter how many times I’d reminded myself of that simple fact, it wasn’t enough to deter me when his hands found my body. It was like I lost all self-control and willpower when in his grip. And he knew it, reveling in how well he could handle me.

The memories were too much. My thighs pressed together when I recalled how Wyatt had driven me to two powerful orgasms back to back. It was an intoxicating feeling I’d never experienced, and hated to admit how badly I yearned for it.

A knock at the door was a welcome distraction. I’d ordered in Chinese food for the second day in a row. Unable to bring myself to do much more than play new melodies I’d dreamed up, I didn’t have the time to cook.

“Hi, just a moment!” I opened the door and turned to grab the cash that I had ready on the table next to the door for my order of orange chicken, shrimp fried rice and two egg rolls.

“I can wait.” The voice hit me like a tidal wave.

There, in the flesh, Wyatt Hart looked incredible, wearing his uniform – a white T-shirt that highlighted his tattooed biceps and distressed denim jeans. Only, now I knew what was beneath all the layers. I’d seen him in his purest form and knew how handsome he truly was.

“Wyatt, what are you doing here?” I backed away from the door, feeling sucked into a vortex I’d spent the past two days warning myself about.

As the pianist on his album, seeing Wyatt was inevitable. We would have to work together, and I didn’t want that to be difficult. We worked well together; no one could deny that. But we had crossed a line, and now it was on me to get us back on track.

“Can I come in?” he asked with a grin that somehow made him even more attractive.

“Wyatt,” I rubbed my eyebrow nervously. What I felt and what I knew were battling, each with strong reasons why I needed to act.

“Sadie, can I come in, please?”

“Yes,” I finally said. In my mind, I added ‘so that we can talk,’ but those words didn’t make it past my lips.

I closed the door, and could feel my heart beating quickly. I was happy to see him, but worried that we would make the same mistake twice.

The doorbell rang again and I checked the peephole in case it was Mitchell. I was suddenly paranoid. Not that I could really do anything as Wyatt’s car was parked in front of the house. It was my Chinese food, and I tried to ignore the intoxicating scent as I walked through the house.

“You’ve been ignoring my texts.” Wyatt followed behind me into the kitchen.

“I just don’t know what there is to say,” I offered, knowing it wasn’t an answer at all. “There was too much to say. Too much to make sense of. So, I decided to avoid it.”

“Well, for starters, I think I should take you on a proper date,” he said, stalking me.

Knowing the effect of his touch, I walked around the kitchen island slowly, hoping to avoid losing self-control again. Slowly and calmly, Wyatt followed me at a safe distance.

“Wyatt, we can’t go on a date.” I rolled my eyes. Just imagining the record label or his sister finding out about us made my stomach turn.

“Why not? We went to the barbecue place together.”

“Yeah, but that wasn’t a date,” I said. “It was just two people sharing a meal.”

“To the outside, it was two people sharing a meal, but I think you can agree that even back then you felt something for me.”

I paused, knowing he was right. That day was one of my best since moving to Nashville. I laughed freely and often with Wyatt. And although I knew it was wrong then, I was attracted to him.

“It doesn’t matter what I felt,” I chose to say instead of the truth. I began unpacking the meal.

“That’s where we disagree. You see, I think how we feel is all that matters.” He stared into my eyes, making quick movements as he closed the gap between us.

Being in the same room with him was like keeping metal from a magnet. I fought it for as long as I could, but the connection was inevitable. His fingers gripped my arm for dear life, pulling my body snug against his. He was so hard; his chest; and between his legs. My body reacted instantly, and I tried to suppress the moan that I wanted to release.

“You want to act like nothing ever happened between us?”
he asked in a husky tone, with his lips so close to mine I could feel the words, and his scent enveloped me.

“I don’t think that’s possible,” I whispered, out of breath and patience. I needed him to kiss me.

“So why are you fighting the inevitable?” he asked before pressing softly against my lips. It wasn’t the lustful kissing we’d had the first night. This was slow and purposeful.

Allowing him to explore my mouth, I moaned softly when his hand traveled up my shirt, cupping my breast. Like a shard of glass, my nipple threatened to tear through the fabric of my top.

With each passing second, his passion grew stronger, evident in the stiffness of his tongue. His body was ready as I was, but this wouldn’t be a repeat of our first time together.

When I tugged at Wyatt’s belt buckle, he didn’t stop me. Allowing me to undress him, I unfastened his pants, letting them drop to the ground loudly. “I want this,” I spoke on his lips as I reached my fingers through his boxers to wrap around his hot thickness.

“It’s all yours,” he smiled with sincerity in his eyes.

“So, I can do whatever I want with it?” I kissed him once more.

“You can have whatever you want, Sadie.”

Hearing those words turned me on so much. I dropped to my knees quickly, pulling his boxers down with me.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

I answered with action, widening my mouth to slide him to the back of my throat. He was warm against my tongue, and so hard. Wasting no time, I bobbed back and forth, hungry for him. God, he tasted good, already releasing a tiny bead of precum.

“Fuck,” he bit out, reaching to the kitchen counter for stability.

His hips nudged forward, inching more of him into my mouth, and I squeezed the base of him to show the parts I couldn’t fit in my mouth some attention. He liked that, groaning loudly as his hand fell to the back of my head.
